Crit Appertaining To Books 1Q84 - Livro 2 (1Q84 #2)

After reading the first book, my expectations were quite high and I was eager the find out how the action will develop. The story got to a dark but interesting place where everything and nothing is predictable. I loved it!

His life seemed to lose its center of gravity not that he had ever really had one, but up to that point, other people had placed certain demands and expectations upon him, and responding to them had kept him busy. Once those demands and expectations disappeared, however, there was nothing left worth talking about. His life had no purpose. He had no close friends. He was drifting and unable to concentrate his energies on anything.

Less than 4, but more than 3.As if the flow of the story somehow lost its drive from book 1. In my view, Murakami has elaborated more the inner connections which he presents to the reader (at least to some point) for the sake of the beautiful small bits of wisdom we we found scattered in the first book. I did miss them here, but nevertheless enjoyed the flow and the perpelxity of the story he has created.

I liked Book 1 slightly better. There are more intriguing "people" in it. Book 2 gives more of the "murakami world," but also makes you feel nervous as the number of pages left decreases. It has a strong aftereffect, but not as strong as Kafka or Norwegian.
